Ways we use water!

Have you ever wondered where all the water you drink comes from? Is the water we have on Earth today the same water that was here millions of years ago? Could you possibly be drinking the same water that George Washington drank centuries ago?
What about rainwater? Where does it go when it hits the earth?

These are all questions related to water. By the time you finish this journey, you will be a water expert.

We use water everyday and for many different things. How many different uses for water are there?
With a partner talk about ways in which we use water. Make a web of different ways we use water, like the one shown below. Come up with at least 12 different ways to use water.

Follow the water cycle by watching a movie!

What is the water cycle? Why is it called a cycle? What do the words evaporation, condensation, precipation, and run-off mean?

In a few minutes you are going to be able to answer all of these questions. You need to go to the website below to watch a short video on the water cycle and what happens at each stage. When you have finished the video take the quiz. If you need to, look at the vocabulary to help you when you answer the questions.

Water Droplet Journal

Pretend you are a drop of water and are taking a 4 day trip. You will keep a detailed journal of what happens to you and your water droplet friends. Your journal needs to have:

1. One paragraph for each day of your trip. You will spend one day at each stage in the water cycle: evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and run-off.

2. Write each paragraph in a journal form. Include details that show that you know what happens at each stage. Use the link at the bottom to post your journal entry on Google Documents.Google Document- Journal Entries

3. Use the websites below to help you find out some more information on the water cycle.

4. You may choose to add images or video to your journal entry to make it more interesting.

Water Cycle Song

Watch the two videos attached. After you have watched the videos, I want you to make a venn diagram comparing and contrasting the two songs.

Also, I want you to answer these questions on a sheet of paper, if you were going to write a water cycle song:

1.) What you add to these songs?

2.) What would you not use from these two songs?

Model of the water cycle

What does the water cycle look like?

Using a blank sheet of paper, you will draw a model of the water cycle with a partner. You need to make sure that the cycle is correctly labeled and it is done neatly. On your model you need to include what happens at each phase of the water cycle.
